02 - Web Hosting
Hosting Services
Section titled “Hosting Services”NSFW content is often considered “high risk” and there are many gray areas. Some providers choose to simply resolve the issue by blanket-banning NSFW content on their platforms, and this includes Web Hosts.
This is a list of services we know of and their relevant policies. This is not a list of recommendations, no host is intentionally escluded, and the authors do NOT receive any compensation from your usage. These are in no particular order.
Assume extreme content (e.g. realistic human rights violations, underage, zoophilia) is banned everywhere.
Cloudflare
Section titled “Cloudflare”✅ Allowed
Static + Dynamic
🇺🇸 USA (California)
💸 Free – 💰 Paid
As of 2026-06-17, Cloudflare allows NSFW content, though not explicitly. Hosting is provided through Cloudflare Pages (static) and can be paired with Cloudflare Workers (dynamic, serverless).
There is a bug with folder upload on Firefox where changed files may fail to have their MIME types set properly. Either use Chromium or Wrangler (CLI) to work around this.

Tumblr
Section titled “Tumblr”⚠️ Restricted

💸 Free
You can point your domain to your tumblr blog!
As of 2026-06-17, Tumblr allows some types of NSFW content. “Visual depictions of sexually explicit acts” are disallowed. Historical and artistic nudity are allowed, but require content labels. It seems non-visual NSFW content is allowed.
This social media platform is included because, even if Tumblr changes their policies on NSFW content, you can point your domain to another service and your audience won’t become lost.

Wisp.place
Section titled “Wisp.place”✅ Allowed
Static
🇺🇳 Decentralized
💸 Free
Wisp.space explicitly allows NSFW content.
Wisp.place is built on top of ATProto (like Bluesky). You log in with your Bluesky account (or other PDS if hosted elsewhere) and you are able to upload static content. You are only limited by your PDS, and any instance of Wisp.place will be able to display it.
Refer to your PDS service for additional acceptable use. If you don’t know your PDS service, it is probably Bluesky. You can always change PDS services if you want to.
NearlyFreeSpeech
Section titled “NearlyFreeSpeech”✅ Allowed
Static + Dynamic
🇺🇸 USA (New York)
💰 Paid
NearlyFreeSpeech allows anything you and they can legally distribute. The terms of service stipulate you must follow USA laws and your local laws, if different. Thus, they allow NSFW content so long as USA federal and New York laws and your local laws allow it. They are pay-for-what-you-use.
NearlyFreeSpeech is self-described as a do-it-yourself service and is geared towards enthusiasts and tinkerers, and may not fit your needs. They admit their services are not easy to use compared to most other hosts (Link).
There is an option for free hosting, so long as the site drives no revenue and you are okay with the service using your site for testing features. These sites have limited feature access.

Catbox Spaces
Section titled “Catbox Spaces”✅ Allowed
Static
🇺🇸 USA (California)
💰 Paid
Catbox Spaces allows any legal content, including NSFW content. Catbox Spaces is targeted towards artists and video creators, and the writer of this blurb has no idea how well it would work for other media types (e.g. video games).
It costs $8/month, and an extra $5/month to connect your domain.
Catbox has a history of being NSFW friendly. Furthermore, you can use Patreon or SubscribeStar to allow your paying customers access to certain content. Multiple options under your own domain name helps you quickly recover from policy updates.
Github
Section titled “Github”❌ Disallowed
Static
🇺🇸 USA (California)
💸 Free
Github Pages is a popular option for hosting blogs, project pages, and personal home pages with custom domains and generous limits, if you don’t mind sharing the code to your website.
That said, Github explicitly disallows pornographic and obscene material, including through images, animation, audio, and text.

Ghost starts at $15/month. An advantage of hosted Ghost is they handle newsletters and user subscriptions for you like Patreon.
If you don’t want to worry about coding your website, but feel alternatives like Wordpress are too heavy, you may like ghost.
You can also self-host Ghost, but some features will be unavailable.
